✨ The Sprite Alchemist - Retro is Officially in Development!

We’ve set up the project structure, copied the proven codebase from The Sprite Alchemist, and defined our roadmap. The vision: transform 3D models into native sprite formats for classic platforms like C64, NES, SNES, Game Boy, ZX Spectrum, Amiga, and more.

🎨 Visual Identity Locked

Created 10 amazing retro-themed logos for the project, all integrated into the app and project journals. The visual identity is locked and loaded! Each logo features pixel art alchemists, magical cubes, and that perfect retro synthwave aesthetic.

🎯 What’s Next?

Phase 1 - C64 Export MVP: We’re starting with the most challenging platform first. If we can handle C64’s complex format (multicolor with double-width pixels, hi-res modes, bitwise encoding), the rest will be smooth sailing!

  • Platform selector UI (dropdown for C64, NES, SNES, etc.)
  • Color quantization implementation (Floyd-Steinberg dithering)
  • C64 format export (12x21/24x21 multicolor or 24x21 hi-res)
  • Bitwise encoding for sprite data

💡 The Vision

This tool could revolutionize retro game development. Imagine C64 games with 2x2 or 3x2 stacked sprites being used commonly—no more tedious manual pixel work. Just import your 3D model, configure the export settings, and get platform-ready sprites in seconds.
